Get-Together
GET-TOGETHER is the continuation of the successful collaboration between the two Cologne-based dance collectives MichaelDouglas Kollektiv and nutrospektif and the Cologne-based musician and composer Gregor Schwellenbach. Contemporary dance vocabulary is combined with urban street dance in energetic bodies that give language to excessive exuberance, rebellious resistance and collective ecstasy.... GET-TOGETHER celebrates this diversity with a unifying gesture: Let's party!
Between Brexit, racism and "them against us", this dance performance celebrates the act of coming together. What is a party? An act of rebellion? What does celebration mean in a world of demarcation and separateness? As a guest of the Cologne Opera and host to its audience, the MichaelDouglas collective explores the distribution of roles of festive gatherings and integrates their levels of meaning into the dramaturgy of the evening. The result is a party that takes its social responsibility just as seriously as the opportunity to celebrate its own tenth birthday.
This production was selected to from an open call by the Opera of Köln and the City Culture office to be presented in the stage of the Opera of Köln.
